Wiley has told me for quite a while that he was going to tell his wife to get him a Husky. That always made me giggle. And the last dog I ever wanted was a Husky. Too head strong, too independent, and way too much hair. But Slade was part of the Irma 9. Hurrican Irma was tracking to hit the west coast of Florida and one of the southern fosters with Sandi Paws was being threatened. The rescue did what they do best and started the process to get dogs moved to safety. 9 adult dogs and 9 puppies were moved to Wisconsin on an emergency transport. Slade was one of the 9 adults. I went with Victoria (founder of SPR) to Stoughton to get these adults moved into our vehicles to get them to foster homes here. Slade proved to be a challenge in his first foster home as he had a dog fight and injured the personal dog. I got a call asking if Slade could come here to our outdoor kennels. I had no choice but to say yes, even if the situation was less than ideal. Slade definitely did not like other males. He made that known to me on several different occasions. But he loved Rayna and enjoyed playing with her. But after less than two weeks, Slade found his forever.
Slade's first day here.
Slade met potential adopters. He is dreaming of his forever home...
Wiley saying his good byes.
Jacob saying his goodbyes...
Both kids before we left to meet his adopters. Be happy boy. You gave me a new look at Huskies. You were awesome....
But don't worry... then next one is in the works. Stay tuned.
