Mc's Alias Blackjack CDX RA NA CGC or something like that

Jack successfully finished his Novice agility (NA) title in standards today and placed second with a score of 91 at the Winnegame Dog Club. It was his first indoor trial, which threw a new spin on things. He was afraid, no, petrified of the teeter, and combat crawled the whole thing but still managed it successfully. Weaves were okay and got them on the second try. We weren't so lucky in Jumpers with it taking 4 attempts at the weaves using up precious course time and then having a refusal at the last jump, which was completely my fault. We ended up not qualified since our final score was a 78, needing 80 to qualify. So hopefully we will be able to get our Jumpers finished soon....

Greta was mad since not only did I take Jack out of the house without her but I took Jacob too. Jacob hung out all day with Aunt Ann, Uncle Cort, Laura and Chad. Thank you so much!!!
While Jack was trialing, and Jacob playing with his Aunt and Uncle, his daddy was out hunting again. Today they were much more successful that the rest of the season. Harold hunts with his friend Gary, and his two daughters, Farren and Ashley. Farren got an 11 point buck, Gary shot a 5 pointer, and Harold says he shot at a half rack but couldn't find it. They are back out now looking for more...

Just a few pics

Almost a forbidden picture. Greta usually makes Jack move away from Jacob. Not sure where she was, but Jack stole the moment for some good cuddling with Jacob.

The men went to go be men and try to bring some meat home. Those that don't hunt deer decided to hunt beer. So the girls, and the boys too young to play with their daddies, decided to go shopping. Here is Grandma and Olivia in our hotel room before Olivia went to go swimming.

Jacob got to play with his friend Jameson, who is 7 weeks young than him. I think they are good friends already. In a few years, I am sure they will cause us a bit of trouble. Then it is time to send them with their daddies.

Jacob, after a day at the mall. Looks like he had fun, doesn't it?

And then here were 22...

So I have been home with Jacob for the last two weeks since Harold has been working in Door County. That has left me in charge of the cattle, horses, dogs, rabbits and the baby. I have had a few meltdowns.... I will admit it. I have not had an easy couple of weeks.... freezing water troughs, cranky horses, moody cows that rather bunk me than be nice.... well, last weekend Harold and I decided that Jesse, one of the two year old cows was preggo. The bull went over the fence last winter but Harold figured she was too little to stand for him. Nope. Not the case. So I have fretted all week that this calf was going to be born while Harold was gone. The cow was starting to bag earlier this week, and today when I got home from visiting Harold, I knew she was not going to wait for him to get back. S/he was born at 6:58 tonight. Hoping that everything will go okay. It is damn cold out there and she had him out in the pasture. Harold will be home in about 2 hours so hopefully all be okay until then.

Baby Jacob update.... We started him on rice cereal last week. He loves it! Well, he loves to wear it.

Long Live Shithead!

So, I figured that I would let you all know (since I was yelled at by someone) that I had the vet out on Thursday to check out the old Thoroughbred. I have been very bothered by how skinny he has gotten and how severe his lameness is. I figured that his time had come. He has no front teeth, his ribs poke out, and he started dragging his front right leg. Dr. Anne had seen Shithead before when he lived at the neighbors and used to sign off on his adoption papers. I was very nervous and agitated about her coming out, but that quickly went away as soon as she got there. She told me that this is the best condition she has ever seen this horse! How that breaks my heart for this old man, but how happy that made me! She told me he looks good, and whatever Harold and I are doing, we must be doing it right by this horse. She made some adjustments in his diet so that we were getting more protein and fiber for our dollar in hopes that he might pack on a bit extra weight but other than that, she felt very comfortable telling me that she thinks he is happy and as healthy as he can be for his age and condition.

For those that don't know, Shithead became Harold's horse by default. Shithead lived here when Mike was alive and after Mike was killed, the neighbors refused to take him back saying he wasn't worth the bullet they would put in his head. So, needless to say, Harold figure this home would be Shithead's until the day he dies. Hoping for many more good years for this cranky, loveable fellow. He finally has a home where he is loved... yes, I love the old shit...

Sorry, no pictures today.
