Cowgirl up, Olivia!

Olivia and Aunt Shannon came out to check out the funny farm. After seeing how cooperative donkeys could be, we thought it would be a good idea for Olivia to climb aboard the Big Black Giant.
Aunt Shannon thought O looked so little up on Phil. I thought she looked big and so grown up. O started riding Aries when her legs were still short and they stuck straight out to the side. Now look at her...

After a hot day in the sun, it was time to cool off in Grandma and Grandpa's pool...

Aww...

No pics today since it was such a busy day.... but aww.... it is just so nice to have Phil home. Yesterday's questionable behaviors between horses have disappeared and both Cappy and E.T. are in love with Phil. She still doesn't like Shaggy and Harmony too close to her but they can all hang out in the pasture nicely.

I rode the big girl today. I actually got on her! How wierd is that? I haven't been on my 15hh Paint gelding for months but climbed on this monster of a horse today... She is just so level headed and easy going.... how nice it is to ride a horse. I have missed that... awww... my heart is with the bigguns...

And the best part... E.T. actually has a horse that wants to be his friend. Phil loves both of them. She is in heat so she loves boys but it is so nice to see E.T. act like the horse he is suppose to be. We took his crib collar off last night in hopes that he would be so infatuated with Phil that he wouldn't crib... we weren't so lucky... but if she wandered out to the pasture so would he. Maybe Phil can keep E.T. young. Who knows, right?

On another note, E.T. is not that old. I found out that he is only 19 years old. His racing name is Exhubert's Tip. He raced 89 times and is classified as a Winner with the Jockey Club of America. I also have confirmed that I have a dead horse living in my pasture as his previous owner has reported him as deceased as of June 18, 2007..... just don't ask.... it is a sore subject.

Awww.... I am just a very happy girl at the moment... happy baby... happy horses... happy donkeys....

She's Here!!

Phil is finally home after waiting three months! Everything went pretty well. Cappy and Phil did have a minor problem initially and Cappy cornered Phil and she went through the fence. Grandpa Ed and Grandma Helen were here when that happened which was helpful since Grandma took care of Jacob as we fixed fence. But after that, everyone is at least agreeing to be in the same space together. E.T. (Shithead) is IN LOVE!!!! He is completely infatuated with her. Cappy got over his need to chase her. Phil currently does not like the donkey girls but I do believe that is because she is in heat and wants the boys to herself.

Here are a few pics from today

Jacob's obsession with stout dogs is not limited to Lu. He can't get enough of Scooter, Chris' Bassett Hound.

Here is Chris, who we got Phil from, with Phil's filly Goldie. She will be 3 months old on June 20th. What a cute girl!

Harold and Phil once we got home and got her unloaded from the trailer. What a good girl.

Phil is so tall that she makes Cappy look like a pony! She is 9 inches taller than he is.

Look at this girl's airplane ears. She should be able to take off with those! Shaggy has come a long way in the 2 weeks that she has been here. You would never believe that she is the same donkey that we had to lasso to catch and load. She just loves attention!

The girls got turned out with the boys on Saturday. All went well. Cappy has taken possession of the donkey girls and would prefer that E.T. , um... Shithead, stay far away. E.T. has taken a good understanding and has claimed the hay feeder his. Tonight was the first time they all shared the feeder together.
Harmony has a pretty new haircut. She stood like a gem as Harold shaved her. She will be so much happier with the expectation of warmer weather... someday. Shaggy's haircut is taking a bit longer since she is very timid of the clippers. We have scissored a lot off. What good girls....

What do you do on a rainy day? Jacob's got the right idea.
